A Windy Drawing Machine
An electronically controlled concentric array of fans blows over a canvas where a pen attached to a sail moves by the created wind. Fans are equipped with ultrasonic sensors which interact with the sail and adjust pushing force according to proximity. In this reciprocal feedback loop, the fans and the sail interact to provide perpetual motion and thus drawing.
The project concept was conceived as a part of the Machinic Protocols ’16 studio in IAAC, led by Edouard Cabay and Rodrigo Aguirre. It then participated in various exhibitions in collaboration with Edouard Cabay, under the name “Vientos de Alisios”.
